Our town is in one of those areas where extra measures being introduced for addressing increasing Covid cases. It's bad news, especially for single or older people who cannot visit each others' homes. But there's also deeper emotional impact. It may just be me, but I find it hard not to feel guilty. I always want to apologise to families and friends as if I personally responsible for the spike.

While that must have being weridest week of my life, for the past 8 days I've not being with a single human being, or at least not in the full meaning of the phrase. Yes, I talked to people non-stop, my eyes are watering from looking at the screen during online conferences, my left arm is sore from having a phone clamped constantly to my ear. But I live on my own, so have not being once in the same physical space with another person.

Superforecasting. It's a great word and it's something many people learnt about for the first time this week. The term was coined by the Canadian-American academic and political thinker. He noticed some people just have a gift for predicting the future, in almost any subject area regardless of their level of expertise.
